NEX Executive Board 2007-2008

4/6/08 News from the House President:

Attention: Nu Sigma Chi Alumnae

As the Founder's Celebration is quickly approaching, the active sisters and the members of the Inc Board of Nu Sigma Chi would like to cordially invite you to visit our sorority house!!!  Nu Sigma Chi still proudly resides at 52 Prospect Terrace!!

Fun filled events will be held at the house!! We will be hosting the annual alumnae tea, directly after the breakfast Saturday morning.  Also  will be hosting a catered Barbeque that afternoon.  At the barbeque there will be raffles and bonding with alumnae and active sisters.
The current sisters and the Inc. board would like to thank all of those for their generous contributions.  With all of the involvement, we have been investing into the beautification of our sorority house! The house has a new roof; new refrigerators, the grand ballroom has been repainted as well as having the ceiling refurbished; and the siding has been freshly washed.  Also, there is promise of a new front door, with new locks; new flooring in the basement; new windows for the house; and plenty more.  The house is looking beautiful with the hopes of improving even more.
Everyone currently involved with Nu Sigma Chi is looking forward to seeing those who will be in attendance.  If you are planning on attending or interested, please feel free to contact NuSigmaChi1928@gmail.com.  Even if you're not planning on attending these events, please feel free to stop by and look at the house.

News from the Recruitment Chair:

"There's no place like Nu Sigma Chi"
This Spring, the sisters of Nu Sigma Chi were proud to wear their letters and show their enthusiasm for recruitment. Through the dates of February 7th through the 13th, the sisters were working hard to recruit new members. Potential new members followed the yellow brick road to 52 Prospect Terrace to meet the sisters. On February 10th, sisters and potentials spent the day getting to know each other, going on house tours, and learning about Nu Sig's history. On February 11th, Nu Sigma Chi hosted their traditional night of Final Tea, a special event full of stories of their sister's experiences and traditions of the sorority.
The Sisters of Nu Sigma Chi are proud to announce that the Zeta Upsilon pledge class of 11 is doing well and they look forward to calling you all sisters!

A letter from the Alumni Chairs:

Dear Sisters:

Sorry we have not been doing our jobs by keeping you updated on the active sisters. We promise to do better though! Our sisters have just finished up recruitment and are in the swing of pledging (new member educating). We would love to hear from you! Feel free to send us a letter, give us a call, or stop by. We always love to see you guys! I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know some of the groups outside of the sorority that our sisters are participating in. We have become an active part of campus life, our sisters are in clubs such as Student Government Association (SGA), Model United Nations, POWER, Hillel, NYPIRG, and many more!
The sorority house is getting some fix ups. We just got a new heating unit in the basement and now also have electricity back down there! In the near future we will be repairing the plumbing in the house, because it is currently leaking. We are also looking into fixing the ballroom ceiling, which is cosmetically damaged cause by a leak in the ceiling. We got the leak fixed (it was a radiator in the room above which was leaking), and now just need to replace the sheet rock so that we can avoid any long term mold damage. We could use your help in these endeavors! If anyone (or their husbands) does any contracting work, please let us know.
Also, your alumni dues are currently past due. They are $50 for the year. Please make checks payable to: Nu Sigma Chi Inc., with a note on the bottom that it is for your alumni dues.  They can be sent c/o Allie Meyers or Rebecca Sprachman @: 52 Prospect Terrace Cortland, New York 13045. Your dues go to fund our annual alumni tea and for maintaining the house. We can't survive without your support!

Thanks and we miss you all!

A letter from our Social Chair:

I have been to other fraternal formals and really liked the way that they get their alumni involved. I would like to do the same. I was wondering how many people would be interested in attending our annual formal with the current NEX sisters. I know that this is unprecedented, but it is something I would like to try. The date is tentatively set for the second weekend in May. Please email me at kalves24@cortland.edu and let me know if you are interested in attending.

Thank you
